The Sweet haben mit weltweit über 55 Millionen verkauften Alben zweifellos einen Platz im Olymp der Rockmusik. Nach ihrer Gründung Ende der 1960er Jahre avancierten Sweet in den 70er Jahren zur erfolgreichsten Glamrock-Band des Jahrzehnts. „!Ballroom Blitz“, „Fox on the Run“ und „Hellraiser“ schossen an die Spitze der Charts. Nach einigen schwierigen Jahren gelang der Band 1978 mit „Love Is Like Oxygen“ ein auch heute noch viel gespielter Top Ten Hit, bevor die Band sich dann 1982 auflöste. 1992 trat ihr Song „!Ballroom Blitz“ durch die Verwendung im Film Wayne’s World zu einem Siegeszug an, bis heute tourt die Band in unterschiedlichen Besetzungen. 2016 soll jedoch auch damit Schluss sein, die Band leitet ihre „Finale“ Abschiedstour ein.
